This wonderfull breed originated in the USA and has been in this country since the 1980's. More recently the reds, creams and tabbys were brought over from America and are now increasing the "GENE POOL" and producing some gorgeous kittens. Our red boy Gene Kelly was one of the first red cats to be born in the UK from American imports with an impressive pedigree.
Said to be the most laid back of the pedigrees, they make wonderfull pets and companions. They love human contact and will follow you round like a dog, they have even been taught to play fetch!
Their lovely nature makes them ideal for children and multi-pet households. Ragdolls are an INDOOR CAT, as due to their friendly nature, they could easily be taken.
They take well to the show bench enjoying all the fuss and attention and should you be interested in showing your Raggie I would be able to offer help and advise on doing so.
Their non-matting coat means grooming is easily done and they are very clean, and relatively quiet pets. Ragdolls mature slowly, starting life all white, their colouring starts to develop at around four weeks and continues to develop until they are around two to four years old.
Ragdolls can grow to 20lbs or more in weight, and can live well into their teens.
